The Government Headquarters Open Day 2026 will be held on 10 and 11 October. In order to complement this annual event, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) is holding a flower show in the Government Headquarters where floral arrangements and landscaping techniques are showcased. Large-scale themed display areas are set up in the Protocol Palace and the grounds and gardens where the public and tourists can tour around the Government Headquarters and spend precious family time here during this special weekend.

This year, the theme of the flower show is “In Harmony with Nature, Harmonious Macao”. By showcasing the ecological landscape of a butterfly-friendly sanctuary, this exhibition curates a rich palette of over 20 varieties of colourful flowers and nectar plants for butterflies. The grounds and gardens of the Government Headquarters are transformed into a harmonious natural tapestry of gathering butterflies and thriving blooms.

The flower show consists of four themed display areas, namely the Protocol Palace front yard display area, the lawn display area, the flower pergola display area, and the Protocol Palace indoor display area.

Protocol Palace front yard display area
Flanking the main entrance of the Protocol Palace are the twin parterres unfolded into a living canvas decorated with a kaleidoscope of dancing wings. The vibrant floral borders gracefully mirror the iconic pink architecture, evoking a sense of vibrant and harmonious symmetry. Before the parterres lies a delicate ribbon of petals, a soft trail guiding visitors through a charming floral wonderland of whispering harmony with nature.

Lawn display area
Anchored by the theme “In Harmony with Nature, Harmonious Macao”, an artistic display of seasonal flowers intertwined with installation of delicate butterflies and friendly bugs takes centre stage. A majestic lotus in full bloom, the timeless symbol of Macao, rises gracefully alongside a whimsical tapestry of miniature and oversized mushrooms, creating a vivid, dynamic butterfly haven that captures Macao’s infinite vitality and natural harmony.

Flower pergola display area
As an extension of the lawn display area, the flower pergola display area continues to feature butterflies as its central theme. Gigantic lepidopteran sculptures rise amidst a cloud of delicate, dancing butterflies, complemented by ephemeral blossoms and everlasting greenery to unveil a rustic butterfly valley alive with untamed natural charm.

Set against a lush backdrop of dense greenery that evokes a wild jungle, the space centres around a monumental floral installation adorned with a rich tapestry of flowers and delicate butterfly figures. The installation unfolds into a romantic dreamscape where a flurry of delicate wings dances to the rhythm of a blooming paradise.
